The Devil’s Forest Pub is not strictly a metal pub per se, but if you visit Venice it’s the natural place to go for a beer while listening to some rock and metal. When I visited, they were playing Rammstein – in fact, Rammstein was the only music they played the whole evening. Even when one of the bartenders went to change the music, he just switched from one Rammstein song to another.
The Devil’s Forest Pub claims to be the oldest pub in Venice. That might sound strange, as the pub only opened in 1991 – which isn’t exactly that long ago. However, what they mean is that The Devil’s Forest Pub was the first real pub in the proper sense of the word. I enjoyed my stay there: it has a relaxed atmosphere and good beer, just the right place to spend the evening after too much walking during the day to see all the sights Venice has to offer.
