MARC BOLAN’S ROCK SHRINE

Marc Bolan (30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977) was an English guitarist, singer-songwriter and poet. He was a pioneer of the glam rock movement in the early 1970s with his band T. Rex.

Marc Bolan’s Rock Shrine at the site where he died in a car crash in Barnes. On 16 September 1977, Bolan was a passenger in a car driven by Gloria Jones. Both had been drinking alcohol, and after crossing a small humpback bridge near Gipsy Lane on Queens Ride, Barnes, South West London, the car struck a fence post and then a tree. Bolan died at the scene.
