PRAGUE

Prague is the Czech capital, a Vltava-side city of about 1.3 million with medieval roots and a UNESCO-listed Historic Centre. The skyline is crowned by Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, with the 14th-century Charles Bridge linking the castle quarter to the Old Town’s lanes, Old Town Square and its Astronomical Clock; the Jewish Quarter, Baroque Malá Strana and the hilltop ramparts of Vyšehrad round out the core. Viewpoints spread from Letná Park to Petřín, while neighbourhoods like Vinohrady, Žižkov and Holešovice add cafés, beer halls, galleries and venues. Getting around is straightforward on the three-line Metro and dense tram network; Václav Havel Airport (PRG) sits to the west with express buses and easy connections into the centre.
