Quorthon, born Tomas Börje Forsberg (17 February 1966 – c. 3 June 2004), was the founder, songwriter, and leader of the band Bathory. The band is often cited as one of the most important within black metal and Viking metal. In addition to singing and composing, Quorthon eventually began playing all the instruments on Bathory’s records.
Quorthon died of heart failure at the age of 38. He is buried at Sandsborgs Kyrkogård in Gamla Enskede, south of Stockholm. The grave is a family grave, which also contains the remains of his father, Börje “Boss” Forsberg, owner of Black Mark Production.
