The Riff is a rock’n’roll/metal hangout in Punavuori, a neighbourhood in the center of Helsinki, with late-late hours, a dark, gallery-like interior and a musician-run feel. Open since 2015, it’s known for walls lined with Ville Juurikkala’s artist portraits printed on brushed aluminium, a polished sound system built around Genelec speakers, and a steady flow of scene folk mixing with travellers. Nights lean DJ playlists, music bingo and party takeovers rather than regular live bands these days, so the vibe is more club-bar than venue; expect busy weekends, friendly staff, and a reliable post-gig crowd drifting in from Tavastia/ice-hall shows. The bar also have a room called “Hate Lounge” that are reserved for Children of Bodom.
