The Cliff Burton Museum near Ljungby, Sweden, is a fan-founded tribute to the legendary Metallica bassist who died in a tour bus accident in Dörarp on September 27, 1986. Opened in May 2022, the small museum serves as a guardian of Cliff’s legacy. The adjacent Memorial Stone, placed by the local community in 2006, marks the exact site where Burton’s bus crashed.
Inside the museum, visitors will find memorabilia such as posters, original album covers, tickets, signed items, and personal accounts from the accident’s first responders. The museum even features the original drum set used during the Master of Puppets tour in 1986. Its layout is built around the story of Cliff Burton — from his childhood to the day he died in Sweden at just 24 years old.
