Cozy Powell was an English drummer famous for working with The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Gary Moore, Graham Bonnet, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath.
Cozy Powell died on the 5th of April 1998 following a car crash while driving his Saab 9000 at 104 mph (167 km/h) in bad weather on the M4 motorway near Bristol.
A memorial plaque was set up at the Corn Hall in Cirencester, England, where Cozy Powell was born. Brian May, Tony Iommi, Suzi Quatro, Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray, and Don Airey visited the Corn Hall to unveil a plaque in Powell’s honour in January 2016.
