Docks is a concert and club venue in Hamburg, located in the St. Pauli area. The venue is commonly described as a mid-sized room (often cited in the 1,250–1,500 capacity range) and is used for both touring concerts and club nights. The building itself dates back to 1900, when it opened as a cinema, and it has since become part of Hamburg’s established live-music circuit.
Everything Louder than Everyone Else by Motörhead was recorded at Docks on 21 May 1998 and released in 1999. The album is presented as a full-show document from the band’s late-1990s era, capturing the setlist and pacing of a single night rather than a multi-date compilation.
Marooned – Live by Sodom was recorded at Docks on 10 May 1994 and released the same year. The release is tied directly to that Hamburg performance, and it also includes additional material recorded during soundcheck, making it a slightly broader snapshot of the day’s recordings than the main concert tape alone.
The Video Link by Rage is a live concert video recorded at Docks on 25 September 1993. First released on VHS in 1994 (and later issued on DVD), it documents the band’s early-1990s live setup and is often referenced as a notable filmed record from that period.
Hamburg Docks (Live ’93) is a later-issued live release connected to the same “Live in Hamburg 1993” recordings, released digitally in 2015. Its title foregrounds the venue itself and preserves a full-era set from the band’s early-1990s material.
Lust for Live by Gamma Ray was recorded at Docks on 25 September 1993 and originally appeared as a live video release in the 1990s, with later reissues bringing the recording back into circulation. It is closely associated with the band’s early lineup and their rise as a major German power metal act in that decade.
