Dunluce Castle stands dramatically on a rocky outcrop along the Antrim coast, its ruins perched above the crashing waves of the North Atlantic. Originally built in the 13th century by the MacQuillan family and later taken over by the powerful MacDonnell clan, the fortress was for centuries a symbol of power, ambition and conflict.
Dunluce Castle also holds a place in rock history: the inner gatefold photograph for Led Zeppelin’s 1973 album “Houses of the Holy” was shot here, complementing the album’s iconic cover images from the Giant’s Causeway. The visuals were created by Aubrey Powell of the London-based design group Hipgnosis.
