Gefle Metal Festival was a metal festival in Gävle, Sweden. It was held at Gasklockorna in the Brynäs district and ran from 2016 to 2023. Over the course of those years, it established itself as one of the more prominent metal festivals in Sweden outside the country’s biggest long-running events.
The festival presented a broad metal programme rather than focusing on a single niche, with line-ups that included death metal, black metal, thrash metal, classic heavy metal and hard rock. Past editions featured bands such as Candlemass, Dismember, At the Gates, Opeth, Emperor, Dark Tranquillity and Kreator, reflecting a mix of Swedish and international acts.
Gefle Metal Festival was put on hold after the 2023 edition. Event listings currently show no upcoming edition, and organisers announced in 2023 that there would be no festival in 2024. As of now, it is best described as a festival on hiatus rather than an active annual event.
