Hellbotn Metalfest is a compact two-day extreme metal festival in Kolbotn, just south of Oslo, held at Kolben Kulturhus. Running at Kolben since 2014, it has become a local staple for heavy music in the Oslo area. The festival usually takes place in late August; in 2025 it was held on 22–23 August with doors from 17:00 and 18+ entry. Travel is straightforward, with trains from Oslo S to Kolbotn taking only 10–15 minutes, and the venue sits right beside the station. The official partner hotel, Quality Hotel Entry, is about a 15-minute walk away.
Line-ups blend Norwegian and international underground acts across black, death, prog, heavy rock, and thrash metal. The 2025 edition featured Enslaved, The Haunted, Tsjuder, and Deströyer 666. With late hours, an on-site bar, and a small, community-minded setup, Hellbotn offers an intimate alternative to Norway’s larger festivals.
