Kolbotn is a locality in Nordre Follo in Akershus. It is situated on the north side of Kolbotnvannet, approximately thirteen kilometers south of Oslo city center. Kolbotn station on the Østfold Line was opened in 1895. Today, it takes about 15 minutes by train from Oslo city center, and there is also a bus connection to Oslo city center (via Mosseveien). Kolbotn has around 6,000 inhabitants, while the municipality of Nordre Follo, covering an area of 200 km², has 58,000 inhabitants. Kolbotn is famous for many metal- and rock bands, like Darkthrone, Obliteration, Nekromantheon, and Turbonegro.
