Hirschaid is a small market town in the Regnitz Valley about 12 km south of Bamberg, set between the river and the Main–Danube Canal with quick access via the A73. It’s an easy hop by rail—direct regional trains link Bamberg and Hirschaid in about 8–10 minutes, running frequently through the day—so it works well as a quiet base for the area. In town you’ll find a modest centre with cafés and everyday shops, plus footpaths and bike routes along the water; sights include the parish church of St Vitus and nearby heritage spots such as Sassanfahrt Castle and the “Tropfhaus” in Sassanfahrt. For events and community shows, the Jahnhalle sits just across from the swimming hall and Regnitzarena.
