Hotel Terraza is the hotel where Metallica was taken on that fateful day when their tour bus crashed in Dörarp — not far from Ljungby in Sweden, where the hotel is located. Shortly before 7 a.m. on September 27, 1986, the bus skidded off the road north of Ljungby and flipped onto the grass. With no safety restraints on the bunks, Cliff Burton was violently thrown through one of the windows, and the bus landed on top of him, killing him instantly.
A police officer transported the surviving band members from the hospital to Hotel Terraza, where their support band Anthrax was already waiting inside. James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Lars Ulrich spent the night in rooms 401, 402, and 403.
