Jimi-Hendrix-Gedenkstein is a 2.5-metre, 6.5-tonne granite memorial near Flügger Strand on the island of Fehmarn marks Jimi Hendrix’s final festival appearance and his last open-air concert at the Love & Peace Festival (4–6 September 1970; Hendrix played on 6 September). His last live performance followed on 16 September 1970 at Ronnie Scott’s in London. Installed in summer 1997 and designed by stonemason Andreas Lewerenz, the stone is engraved with a guitar and the text: “Jimi Hendrix – Fehmarn – Love and Peace Festival – 4.–6. Sept. 1970”.
The monument stands just beyond Camping Flügger Strand, roughly 60 metres from the water and a short walk from Flügge Lighthouse. Access is open-air and free; parking is available by the campsite and beach. Location: Fehmarn-Flügge (south-west of the island).
