Kamala is a small coastal town and beach on Phuket’s west coast, just north of Patong and south of Surin, with a local population of around 7,000 in the subdistrict. Originally a fishing village, it’s now best known as one of Phuket’s calmer resort bases: a long, curving bay (about 3 km) with a more relaxed pace than Patong, plus a handful of headline attractions nearby, including Phuket FantaSea. It’s an easy base for beach days and short taxi rides up and down the coast, while Phuket Airport is roughly 45 minutes away by road.
