Los Cristianos is a seaside town on the south coast of Tenerife in the municipality of Arona, with a population of around 21,000. Originally a small fishing harbour, it grew rapidly into one of the island’s main resort bases from the late 1950s onwards, and today it’s best known for its sheltered bay, long beachfront promenades, and busy port. The main draws are the two central beaches (Playa de Los Cristianos and the wider Playa de Las Vistas), the pedestrian-friendly seafront lined with cafés and bars, and easy day trips by ferry to La Gomera (and also La Palma and El Hierro) from the harbour.
