Makati is one of the highly urbanized cities that make up Metro Manila, the capital region of the Philippines. Known as the country’s financial hub, it is home to major banks, corporations, luxury hotels and upscale shopping centres, while also serving as a centre for culture, the arts, fashion and education.
With 432 high-rises and skyscrapers—138 of them over 100 metres (328 ft)—Makati boasts the largest and most recognisable skyline in the Philippines. According to the 2024 census, the city has a population of 309,770 people. Visitors will find a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with vibrant nightlife, fine dining, art galleries and green spaces like Ayala Triangle Gardens providing a balance to the fast-paced business district.
