Midgardsblot is an annual festival in Norway that combines metal and Viking heritage, set among the Viking burial mounds at Borre in partnership with the Midgard Viking Centre near Horten.
Held over several days in mid-August, it pairs international heavy acts with cultural programming—talks, films, re-enactments, and markets—alongside a Viking village, fjord-side camps, and an opening blót ritual. The setting makes it as much a heritage gathering as a music festival, fostering an inclusive, community-minded atmosphere. Today, it ranks among the world’s most unique metal festivals, drawing both metal fans and Viking enthusiasts from across the globe.
