NOTTINGHAM

Nottingham is a historic East Midlands city of about 324,000 people (2021 census), first recorded in 868 as “Snotengaham” and long associated with the Robin Hood legend and the Sheriff of Nottingham. The city centre is compact and easy to explore, with highlights including the Old Market Square, the Lace Market and Hockley for cafés, bars and venues, and Nottingham Castle on Castle Rock above the skyline. Beyond the core, expect a strong student and live-music energy from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, plus big green escapes at Wollaton Park and along the River Trent. Getting around is straightforward via Nottingham station, a dense bus network and the Nottingham Express Transit tram lines linking key districts.
