Queluz is a suburban city in the municipality of Sintra with around 52,000 residents in the merged parish of Queluz e Belas (2011 census base; merger in 2013), historically grown around the 18th-century National Palace of Queluz—a Rococo/Neoclassical royal residence often dubbed the “Portuguese Versailles,” with formal gardens and ties to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art. The compact centre sits roughly midway between Lisbon and Sintra, linked by the Lisbon–Sintra rail line to Queluz-Belas station (about 15–20 minutes from either direction), making easy day trips in both ways. Highlights focus on palace tours and garden strolls, seasonal equestrian galas, and quiet neighbourhood streets set back from the main avenues.
