The Ruskin Arms was closed down in 2019.
The Ruskin Arms was a historic East London pub and live music venue at 386 High Street North, best known as an early home for Iron Maiden during the NWOBHM era. Between 1978 and 1981, the band performed there 25 times, cementing the Ruskin’s reputation as one of the most important venues in the birth of heavy metal.
The pub closed in 2008 after a violent incident that led to the revocation of its licence. It later reopened in 2011 as a bar and hotel, but the venture struggled and shut down again in 2019. As of 2025, the building remains closed, though the Ruskin Arms sign can still be seen—a reminder of its legacy and a hope that one day it may return.
