Svartskog is the western part of the former Oppegård municipality, lying between Lake Gjersjøen and the Bunnefjorden in Nordre Follo. Unlike the rest of the municipality, it is sparsely populated. Oppegård Church is located in Svartskog, and on the fjord stands Roald Amundsen’s home, Uranienborg.
