Dee Dee Ramone, born Douglas Glenn Colvin (18 September 1951 – 5 June 2002), was an American musician. He was the bassist, occasional lead vocalist, and a founding member of the punk rock band Ramones.
Dee Dee Ramone was found dead at his home in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles on the evening of 5 June 2002. An autopsy established heroin overdose as the official cause of death. He had been booked to perform at the Majestic Ventura Theater, but the event instead became a memorial show in his honour.
Both Dee Dee Ramone and Johnny Ramone of Ramones are buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. Dee Dee Ramone’s headstone features the Ramones emblem at the top, and the inscription “O.K… I Gotta Go Now.” at the bottom.
Many other celebrities are buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, including Vampira, Jayne Mansfield, Peter Lorre, Bugsy Siegel, and Burt Reynolds. Madonna also filmed parts of the “Like a Prayer” music video here.
