DESSEL

Dessel is a small municipality in the Kempen (Campine) area of Antwerp Province in northern Belgium, with a population of around 10,000 people. It’s best known internationally for hosting Graspop Metal Meeting at the Stenehei festival grounds, but outside festival week it feels quiet and green, with flat cycling routes, canals and patches of woodland typical of the Kempen. Dessel sits close to the larger towns of Mol and Geel, with Antwerp roughly an hour away by car, so it works well as a practical base if you want a calmer place to stay while exploring the wider region.
