Santa Venera is a small town in central Malta with around 9,000 people, set between Birkirkara, Ħamrun, Qormi and Msida. Its roots go back at least to the late medieval period, with the old parish church dating from the 15th century, while its best-known landmark is the Wignacourt Aqueduct, built in the early 17th century to carry water towards Valletta. The town is compact and mostly residential, but its central position makes it a practical base for moving around Malta, with Valletta, Sliema and St Julian’s all within easy reach by bus or taxi. Local points of interest include Casa Leoni and Romeo Romano Gardens, while the wider area connects quickly to Malta’s main nightlife, harbour and historic districts.
