GOUVIA

Gouvia is a small coastal village and resort on Corfu, Greece, with under 1,000 permanent residents, set about 7–8 km north of Corfu Town on the island’s east coast. It developed around a natural harbour that was important during the Venetian period, and the remains of the old Venetian shipyards are still one of the area’s main historic sights. Today Gouvia is best known for its large marina, one of the main yachting centres in the Ionian Islands, along with a sheltered bay, hotels, tavernas and low-key nightlife. The village works well as a practical base for exploring Corfu, with quick road and bus links to Corfu Town, the airport, beaches and the island’s north coast.
