Seventh Veil is a strip club at 7180 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The address has been associated with burlesque and adult entertainment since the 1940s, and the club became one of the best-known establishments on Sunset Boulevard during the 1980s hard rock era.
Seventh Veil was used in Mötley Crüe’s “Girls, Girls, Girls”. Seventh Veil is named in the song and was used for the principal interior scenes in the music video, filmed with director Wayne Isham on 13 April 1987. The band, dancers and audience scenes were shot inside the club, while the video also uses footage of the band arriving outside the Body Shop on their motorcycles. This means both surviving Sunset Boulevard clubs featured in the finished video rather than Seventh Veil being its only location.
The original cut included considerably more nudity than MTV would allow, resulting in a censored version being prepared for television. Seventh Veil’s highly recognisable frontage and the interior scenes subsequently became closely associated with the visual identity of the song and album.
