Psycho Rock & Roll Club is a small rock bar at Carrer de Piquer 27 in the Poble-sec district of Barcelona, Spain. Opened in 2011, the bar takes its name from “Psycho” by American garage-rock pioneers The Sonics. The music ranges across rock ’n’ roll, punk, garage, hard rock, post-punk and related styles, with both classic and underground bands represented.
The interior is compact and densely decorated, with red walls covered in photographs, posters, stickers and other music memorabilia. The Who and The Dead Boys are among the bands represented on the walls, alongside Black Flag and Motörhead stickers. A small room at the rear is used for DJ sets and occasional acoustic or amplified performances, while resident and guest DJs form an important part of the regular programme.
PSYCHO has remained part of Barcelona’s underground rock scene for more than fifteen years and has also organised events outside the bar when larger spaces are needed. Its anniversary celebrations have included concerts at other venues, while the related Sardina Fest combines live rock ’n’ roll with activities connected to the bar.
Located close to Sala Apolo and the venues along Avinguda del Paral·lel, PSYCHO is closely tied to the live music scene in this part of Barcelona. Its compact interior, rock memorabilia and DJ-driven programme have given it a distinct place within the city’s long-running punk, garage and rock ’n’ roll culture.
