Warriors of Steel Festival is an annual power metal festival held at Terminalen Byscene in Ålesund, Norway. Established in 2025 by Norwegian musician Marius Danielsen, the festival concentrates exclusively on melodic and symphonic power metal, bringing together Norwegian and international bands. Danielsen, known for his fantasy metal project Legend of Valley Doom, developed the idea after attending a similar festival in Denmark. He organises the event alongside Terje Rasmussen and Anniken Rasmussen Danielsen. The inaugural edition took place on 23 May 2025, featuring Fabio Lione of Rhapsody fame, Swedish bands Dragonland, Insania, Veonity and Palantír, and Marius Danielsen’s Legend of Valley Doom. The festival attracted more than 450 ticket holders in its first year.
The festival takes place at Terminalen Byscene, a concert venue in central Ålesund housed in a former bus station dating from 1961. The building was converted into a concert venue in 2015 and contains a main concert hall, bars and additional event spaces. Warriors of Steel is organised as a single-day indoor festival, with several bands performing throughout the evening. The relatively small venue brings the audience close to the performers, contrasting with the large outdoor festivals where many international power metal bands usually appear.
The second edition was held on 29 May 2026, with Italian band Vision Divine, British power metal group Power Quest, Austrian band Dragony, Icelandic band Power Paladin and Norwegian acts Legend of Valley Doom and Anniken. One of the main events was the reunion of Power Quest’s classic line-up, bringing together musicians who had not performed together for approximately 18 years. The festival attracted international visitors, including fans travelling from Japan to attend the reunion concert. Warriors of Steel is scheduled to return on 28 May 2027, with Freedom Call, Highland Glory, Eunomia and Legend of Valley Doom featuring Ronnie Romero among the announced performers. The 2027 edition will include another reunion, with Highland Glory returning for an exclusive performance.
