Vaterland Bar & Scene is a rock, punk and metal bar, pizzeria and live music venue in Oslo, Norway. Located in Brugata, close to Oslo Central Station, it combines a ground-floor bar and pizza restaurant with a small concert room upstairs.

The food side is a major part of the place. Vaterland is known for its pizza, with the slogan “Hail Pizza – Eat Satan” and menu items such as the Satan pizza giving the kitchen the same heavy music humour as the bar itself. Downstairs, the venue functions as a social meeting place for pizza, beer, rock, punk and metal.

The upstairs room is an intimate live venue used for smaller concerts, release shows and underground events. Bands that have played Vaterland include Helheim, Gatecreeper, The Devil’s Rejects, Ondt Blod, Lik and Beaten to Death, with the programme regularly covering metal, punk, hardcore, grindcore, stoner rock and related styles.

Vaterland also hosts record fairs and music markets, usually on Sundays. During the warmer part of the year, these markets can extend outside into Brugata, adding a record-shopping element to the bar’s regular food, drinks and concert activity.

With its pizza kitchen, heavy music soundtrack, upstairs stage and record-market Sundays, Vaterland has become one of the most distinctive rock and metal hangouts in central Oslo.
