Ljungby is a small town and municipal centre in Kronoberg County, Sweden, with around 28,000 people in the municipality and a little over half of them living in Ljungby town. Set in the forest-and-lake landscape of Småland, it developed from an older market and road settlement and became a city in 1936, before the modern municipality was formed in 1971. The area is known for its many lakes, outdoor life and local folklore, with the Sagomuseet / Museum of Legends giving Ljungby a distinctive cultural identity. Key sights include the town centre, Ljungby Church, the Museum of Legends, Ljungbergmuseet and easy trips to lakes, nature reserves and cycling routes around the municipality. Getting in and around is easiest by road via the E4, with regional buses linking Ljungby to Växjö, Halmstad and other parts of southern Sweden.
