The Cumberland Hotel is a large central London hotel at Marble Arch—now branded simply “The Cumberland”—just off Oxford Street and a short walk from Hyde Park. The property relaunched under its historic name in May 2023 after four years as Hard Rock Hotel London, with refreshed rooms, bars and event spaces while retaining nods to its music heritage.
Jimi Hendrix stayed here on multiple visits to London and gave his final interview at the hotel to Keith Altham for the NME on 11 September 1970; an English Heritage blue plaque recognising his connection was unveiled in 2022. His last address is recorded as The Cumberland Hotel on his death certificate.
Today the hotel marks the association with a themed Jimi Hendrix Suite, styled with vintage fabrics, murals, psychedelia and a replica “Flying V” guitar. Although not the original room, it draws on Hendrix’s ethos and visual style. For current room availability, dining and bar hours, and venue listings, check the hotel’s official site or major listings. Nearest Tube: Marble Arch (Central line).
