The Alcázar of Segovia is a medieval castle in the city of Segovia, Castile and León, Spain. Documented since at least the 12th century, it is one of the best-known medieval castles in the world and among Spain’s most visited landmarks. Since 1998 it has housed a museum and a military archive, having previously served as a state prison, the Royal Artillery College and a military academy.
In 1997 the Norwegian one-man black metal project Tartaros released the EP “The Grand Psychotic Castle”, using the Alcázar itself as the “grand psychotic castle” on the cover. The photograph is credited to Mr. Hofstad.
