GALERIA DO ROCK

Galeria do Rock is downtown São Paulo’s subculture hive: a multi-level shopping gallery opened in 1963 (built 1962) and long known for 400–450+ specialist outlets—record stores, licensed band-merch walls, tattoo/piercing studios, alt fashion, skate/hip-hop gear and barbers. Born as Shopping Center Grandes Galerias, it evolved into a meeting point for rock/metal tribes and remains a weekend pilgrimage for crate-diggers and patch hunters. The modernist gallery was designed by Siffredi & Bardelli, built by Alfredo Mathias S.A., and is listed by the city heritage body (Conpresp), which helps keep its mid-century curves and open atriums intact while the stalls rotate with new drops.
