Hacienda del Mar, member of Meliá Collection, is a beachfront resort hotel in Estepona on Spain’s Costa del Sol. The property is widely known among rock fans because guitarist and singer Gary Moore (1952–2011) died there in the early hours of 6 February 2011, reported as a heart attack while he was asleep during a holiday stay. At the time of his death, the hotel operated under the name Kempinski Hotel Bahía (also described in contemporary reporting as the Kempinski Resort Hotel in Estepona), and the site has since been associated with rebranding and renovation under the Meliá portfolio.
