Vinyl Rocks Amsterdam is a rock and metal-oriented vinyl bar and café in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The venue opened as BR020 in 2018 and was later renamed Vinyl Rocks Amsterdam, reflecting its focus on music played from vinyl. It is owned by Paulo Xisto Jr., best known as the bassist of Sepultura, one of Brazil’s most important and internationally influential metal bands.
The bar is rooted in rock and metal culture, but its concept is broader than one genre: the music is played on vinyl, and the venue’s own profile emphasises vinyl culture as much as heavy music. The former BR020 name referred to Brazil and Amsterdam’s 020 phone code, while the current name makes the vinyl concept clearer.
Vinyl Rocks Amsterdam also carries a Brazilian identity through its ownership, food and drinks. Its menu includes Brazilian-influenced bar food and cocktails, while the venue hosts open mic sessions, acoustic performances and Heavy Metal Tuesday vinyl nights. This combination of Sepultura connection, vinyl-only music culture, rock and metal identity and Brazilian influence gives the bar a distinctive place in Amsterdam’s music nightlife.
