Byscenen is Trondheim’s historic big-room club venue: a former 19th-century assembly hall reworked in 2009 into a modern concert space with a balcony gallery and a smaller sister room for intimate shows. The main hall swings from 750-cap standing gigs to fully seated set-ups (around 420); the gallery opens on selected nights for unreserved seating. Programming is broad—touring rock/metal and Norwegian headliners—alongside civic fixtures such as Jazzfest sets, award galas and special one-offs. The Air Force Band has used the house as a base since 2009, keeping the stage busy by day as well as at night. On site you’ll also find the allied Alma’s restaurant and the downstairs Boxer bar, which turns the building into a full evening hub before and after shows.
Byscenen is the host for the black metal festival called Caerimonia Nidrosiæ.
