BYTÓW

Bytów is a small Kashubian town in northern Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship with a population of around 25,000, best known for its imposing Teutonic Knights’ castle. The brick-and-stone fortress was built in the late 14th to early 15th century (often dated 1398–1405/06) and today dominates the town as its main landmark, housing cultural spaces including a regional museum. Beyond the castle hill, Bytów is a practical base for the lake-and-forest landscape of Kashubia, with an easy, walkable centre, low-key cafés and a calm, small-town pace that suits a stopover between bigger Baltic hubs.
