Cherrybomb in San Diego is a punk-soaked, cash-only dive with heavy pours and a glorious jukebox stacked with punk/metal staples. Inside it’s dark brick, skulls and gargoyle-style décor, plus pool, foosball and pinball; out back there’s a surprisingly roomy patio for breathers between songs. The vibe is unfussy and rowdy—in the best way—with cheap schooners, liberally poured doubles and a locals-plus-tourists mix that turns weekend nights into full-bar sing-alongs. Bankers Hill institution, named after the Runaways anthem, and exactly the kind of place people mean when they say “proper dive.”
