Conne Island in Leipzig—known as the Eiskeller Club in 1990—is a key site in Norwegian black-metal history: on 26 November 1990, Mayhem recorded the performance later issued as Live in Leipzig, featuring Dead on vocals and released posthumously in 1993. The set drew on the Pure Fucking Armageddon demo (1986), the Deathcrush EP (1987) and early versions of material that would appear on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994). Today the venue operates as Conne Island, a self-managed social centre with a music space alongside art, community and other activities, and it remains a pilgrimage stop for fans tracing the band’s early live history.
