Crumlin is a small town and community in Caerphilly County Borough, Wales, with around 6,000 people, set in the Ebbw Valley between Pontypool, Newbridge and Blackwood. It grew mainly as a coal-mining and railway settlement during the industrial expansion of South Wales, and was once known for the Crumlin Viaduct, a major 19th-century railway landmark that crossed the valley before being demolished in the 1960s. Today the town is quieter and more residential, but its mining and transport history still shapes the local identity, especially around the former Navigation Colliery site. Key points of interest include Crumlin town centre, the valley walks and nearby heritage sites around the Ebbw and Sirhowy valleys, with the wider area offering easy trips to Cwmcarn Forest, Caerphilly and the South Wales coalfield landscape. Getting in and around is easiest by road and local bus, with rail links available from nearby Newbridge, Llanhilleth and Crosskeys.
