Dubai Metal Fest has not been held since 2023 and is no longer active.
Dubai Metal Fest was a heavy metal festival held at Boracay Club in the Asiana Hotel in the Deira district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Organised by Metal East Records in cooperation with JoScene, the festival brought together international touring bands and metal acts from across the Middle East and Asia.
The first edition took place on 25 and 26 November 2022, with Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell and Italian band Lacuna Coil as headliners. The programme also included 5grs from Iran, Smouldering in Forgotten and Hellionight from Bahrain, Wasted Land from Saudi Arabia, Fatal Qualm from the Philippines and Dubai-based band Svengali.
Dubai Metal Fest returned on 18 and 19 November 2023 at the same venue. Swedish industrial metal band Pain and Greek symphonic death metal band Septicflesh headed the programme, alongside Dubai death metal band Nervecell. Other performers included Black Sonic Pears from Russia, Dusk from Saudi Arabia, Atria from Iran, Dayuhan from the Philippines and local band Reprobate.
The festival covered death metal, gothic metal, industrial metal, progressive metal and other heavy styles. A significant part of its identity was the combination of established international bands with artists from Middle Eastern and Asian metal scenes, including bands from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the Philippines.
The 2023 edition became the festival’s final event. No further editions followed.
