Eclipse Rock Bar is a small metal bar in Bairro Alto, Lisbon, Portugal. It is located in one of the city’s busiest nightlife areas, surrounded by narrow streets, bars and late-night crowds.
The bar itself is very small and consists of a single room, with only limited space inside. On a busy night, many visitors are likely to end up standing, although the bar also has a few outdoor seats in the lively street outside. Despite its small size, the room includes table football, an arcade machine, a TV and even a reverse vending machine for bottles and cans.
Eclipse Rock Bar is a dedicated metal bar, with metal playing over the speakers rather than a broad rock playlist. The music leans strongly towards classic heavy metal and hard rock, with bands and artists such as Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Motörhead and Ozzy Osbourne fitting the atmosphere. Guests can also request songs by writing them on a slip of paper given out by the bartender when ordering drinks.
One of the bar’s most distinctive visual features is its use of caricature drawings of well-known rock and metal figures. These appear both inside the bar and on the signs outside, with figures such as Lemmy, Ozzy, Slash, Axl Rose and Eddie from Iron Maiden among the recognisable faces.
