EVIL COOKS

Evil Cooks is a metal-themed modern Mexican restaurant in El Sereno, Los Angeles. It opened as a permanent restaurant in late 2024, after several years as a pop-up taquería run by chefs Alex and Elvia García.

The restaurant combines Mexican street-food traditions with punk, goth, horror and heavy metal imagery. Its exterior includes gargoyles on the roof, while the dark interior is decorated with skeletons, horror details, guitars and heavy music references. One of the most striking features is a full-size figure of The Crimson Ghost, the skull-faced mascot associated with Misfits.

The walls also carry a strong metal identity, including posters of bands such as Slayer, Exodus, Iron Maiden, Destruction, Kiss, Megadeth and many others. The music and visual style give the restaurant a darker and more rebellious character than a standard taquería.

The menu follows the same non-traditional approach, with Mexican-inspired dishes and names such as the McSatan and black pastor tacos. Evil Cooks describes its food as non-traditional Mexican food from Los Angeles, combining the García family’s cooking with a punk, goth and heavy metal aesthetic.
