Halden (formerly Fredrikshald until 1928) is a city and municipality in Østfold county in Eastern Norway. The large municipality of Halden borders Rakkestad to the north, Aremark to the east, and Sarpsborg to the northwest, as well as the municipalities of Strömstad, Tanum, and Dals-Ed in Sweden to the southwest, south, and southeast respectively.
