Hellion Records is a metal record shop, mailorder and label based in Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. Founded in 1988 by Jürgen Hegewald, it has long been part of the German heavy metal underground and remains one of the more established specialist metal shops in the region.
The shop carries metal vinyl, CDs, merchandise and related music items, but its CD selection is still one of its most important features. Hellion Records is especially relevant for collectors looking for underground metal, obscure releases and smaller-label titles alongside more familiar heavy metal names. The store’s physical appearance also seems to have changed little over the years, giving it the character of a long-running old-school metal shop rather than a modern high-street music retailer.
Hellion has also released music as a record label, with a focus on heavy metal and related styles such as traditional metal, doom, thrash, speed, death, gothic and progressive metal. Its location in northern Germany, not far from Wacken, has made it a natural stop for metal fans travelling through the region, especially those combining festival trips with record hunting.
