JOACHIM “JOKKE” NIELSEN’S GRAVE

Joachim “Jokke” Nielsen was a Norwegian musician best known as a composer, pianist, vocalist, guitarist, and frontman of the Norwegian rock bands Jokke & Valentinerne and Jokke med Tourettes. Nielsen formed Jokke & Valentinerne in 1982, and the band quickly became one of the most popular bands in Oslo’s rock scene.

During the 1990s, Joachim’s drug use increased, and he was admitted to detox clinics several times for his heroin addiction. On leave from the Tyrilikollektivet to create a new album, he died of a heroin overdose at a friend’s home on October 17, 2000, at the age of 36.

Joachim Nielsen is buried in the family grave at Vår Frelsers gravlund. Every year, fans leave beer and other alcoholic beverage on his grave to honor his memory. His grave is located on the southeast side of the cemetery.
