Jon Nödtveidt’s memorial site is at Råcksta Cemetery in the Vällingby area of Stockholm, Sweden. Nödtveidt (full name Jon Andreas Nödtveidt) was born on 28 June 1975 and died on 13 August 2006, aged 31. He was the founder, vocalist, and guitarist of Dissection, and is chiefly associated with the albums “The Somberlain”, “Storm of the Light’s Bane”, and “Reinkaos”.
Nödtveidt died by suicide in his apartment in Hässelby, Stockholm, in August 2006. Råcksta Cemetery includes a crematorium and a memorial grove (minneslund), and he was cremated there after his death. His memorial is therefore part of the cemetery’s minneslund rather than a marked individual grave. In this type of burial area, ashes are laid to rest by cemetery staff, and there is a communal place for flowers and remembrance instead of a private headstone. Visitors often leave candles, flowers, and other tributes in the shared memorial area.
