KOURDISTO PORTOKALI

Kourdisto Portokali is a rock bar in Corfu, Greece. Located in the centre of the island capital, also known as Kerkyra, it is one of the city’s rock-oriented drinking bars.

The Greek name is written Κουρδιστό Πορτοκάλι and can be translated as “A Clockwork Orange”, referring to the Anthony Burgess novel and Stanley Kubrick film. This gives the bar a name connected to cult film and countercultural imagery as much as to rock music.

The interior is decorated with rock and classic music references, including Judas Priest, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Hawkwind, Deep Purple, AC/DC and Thin Lizzy. Band images and posters on the walls give the room a clear rock-bar atmosphere, with a focus on classic rock, hard rock and older heavy music.

Kourdisto Portokali functions mainly as a drinking bar, with rock music, drinks and a central location in Corfu’s old city area. Together with Save Rock Bar, it gives Corfu a small but visible rock-bar presence in a nightlife scene otherwise shaped heavily by tourism.
